About

Bath Homes fit for the future is jointly organised by Transition Bath, Bath Preservation Trust and Bath and North East Somerset Council, and aims to inspire and inform the community about:

  • Making homes warmer and cheaper to heat
  • Retrofit of traditional and listed homes
  • Renewable energy generation
  • Low energy and sustainable design

Bath Homes Fit for the Future’s Programme of Events will run for 8 weeks between 5th March and 27th April. The Program of Events will feature an Open Homes weekend on the 17th & 18th March to showcase inspiring examples of energy efficient homes. Other events (to be confirmed) include a conference, a series of practical workshops, youth activiteis, training sessions and other associated activites.

It is hoped that this will become an annual event, and in the first year the focus is on the city and surrounds of Bath. In future years it is hoped that this could be extended to other areas in Bath & North East Somerset

Transition Bath is a registered charity powered by fantastic volunteers who want to be part of a better future for their city. It is a local, practical response to rising food and fuel prices, shaky economies, dwindling resources and climate change.

We think that empowering, enabling and supporting each other to create practical solutions is the surest way to create a future we want to be part of. We're showcasing the solutions, running inspiring projects, talks, workshops and skill-sharing events.

The Bath Preservation Trust is a charity with over 1400 members. We encourage and support the conservation, evolution and enhancement of Bath and its environs whilst making sure this is appropriate both to its historic setting and its sustainable future. In 2011 we published 'Warmer Bath, A guide to improving the energy efficiency of traditional Bath homes in the city of Bath' (a download is available on our website).

In recent months we have been working with the London Road and Snow Hill community to develop a neighbourhood climate change mitigation design strategy.

The Council has made de-carbonising our district a priority, and aim to help cut the district’s carbon emissions by 45% by 2026. The Project links with many aspects of the Councils work including the Housing Teams work on Fuel Poverty, The Sustainability Teams carbon reduction work including ‘Local Energy Champions’, and the Planning Teams
